It was a great scene.
It was finals week, Seal Team 6 had just smoked Osama. Some dweeb was going to burn an american flag on the parade grounds. IIRC he created a facebook event for it but not sure if he even invited anyone. Like I think he planned it as a one-man show or something. But then some student government bro caught wind of it and organized a huge counter protest . Walton and Johnson were there lmao.
Also I distinctly remember there was this girl like decked out in American flag apparel and on the front line screaming at the small pro-flag burning contingent. She was waving a big American flag during the whole thing. Once the flag burner got taken away by the campus cops and people started to disburse, she walked back toward the union dragging the flag on the ground behind her
That was also part of the 3 or 4 semester streak of weird/funny/interesting shite that seemed to grip campus during finals week.

That’s accurate. The “things were so much better back then” is usually exaggerated but it’s 100% true about this place 10 years ago compared to now.

My son and his friends post on the recruiting board and the rant occasionally. They are at LSU right now, juniors and seniors. They follow LSU sports here and do their electronic socializing on snap chat and instagram.
