Thing is most crime or violence is Cartel related. Much like the mafia it stays within those involved usually. Now abductions do happen for ransom money but that’s only if you appear to be or are known to be from a wealthy family.

The cartel could give 2 shits about a middle class gringo coming down to get drunk and go to bars. Just don’t make a scene or go into known bad areas where you have no business. The cartel doesn’t want the negative press of murdering innocent American tourists because its bad for business.

That's interesting. Most of the guys on the ranch drive Chevy's. One guy has a 82 Bronco that he goes to/from the ranch in. His Bronco has a 302 in it.

We used to cross a good bit at Los Algodones about 30 years ago. There was a place I think called the green door kind of a strip club/bar. You could negotiate your price and head up stairs.
