very little, learning that language is an absolute bitch, but i got by on the basics. also, a lot of russians speak english so they will assist when necessary.
with that said, it was hard to get around the cities (everything is in russian) - they do not embrace english at all (signs, traffic, museums, etc)
St Petersburg is the most beautiful city ive ever visited.
you need to have a local "recommend" you, in order to get approved to visit. so my buddy, who was living over there, had to sign a document saying the purpose for my stay etc. besides that little quirk, it was easy.

I haven't been to Russia but as far as Europe goes, I found there were more hot women solely Bc they were all thin. Imagine no fatties. Just lop 20 lbs off every pudgy chick in America. That's Europe.
