Would you expect to have to pay an additional fee for room service at a 5 star resort? We weren’t informed prior to staying here that room service is only included if you buy the concierge service package. I argue that the two are not even close to synonymous. When we stay at the Hilton or the Peabody, there is never an extra fee. What say you?

In before: “You’re a cheap arse” or “Subtle brag thread”.

concierge is the person who arranges for things inside and outside of the hotel. Room service is food and drink within the room.

That's weird. At least how it used to be, concierge is almost like a local guide and room service is paying triple the going rate for average food.

I always expect to pay for my food when I order room service. Are you referring to some additional service charge?

Now, take in mind, I fully expect to pay for the food/and or drink ordered with a generous tip, but I’m more talking about even having the availability of the room service without having to pay an extra $1000.

To me, concierge is the desk that would handle reservations, booking shows, helping guests find places to go, etc. Room cleaning seems like it would be standard for staying anywhere. Although I do put up my Do Not Disturb when I travel.

Still - I haven’t been anywhere TOO insanely expensive, but I’ve stayed in a few Waldorf Astoria hotels and always received room service.

Ain’t it funny how the expensive places charge for everything that’s free at lower tier hotels?

EDIT - Room service is never free, but I thought you meant room cleaning.

So let’s get something straight, they’re charging you $1,000 to use this “concierge service” in order to use room service?

Room service discreetly brings food for you to gobble.

Concierge service discreetly brings a hooker to gobble you.

That is correct. Or, at least, that’s what they’re trying to get me to pay in order to have the ability to utilize room service.

Are you sure you are understanding them correctly?

Did they wink and nod when they said "room service"?

Sounds like a miscommunication.
Just order Uber eats and have the concierge bring it up to your room.
