Yup, pretty soon we just won't make phone calls anymore.

Yep, I've had people call and text me asking me if I called them. Someone even sent me a screenshot showing the missed call from my number.

My question is who answers, listens, and gives them anything?

Hell I had my own number call me. I answered it hoping it was the future me with the winning powerball numbers. But it was Jessica from card member service... I wish that bitch would die in a fire...

Yes it's called spoofing. I constantly get calls from my area code plus first 3 digits. Annoying as hell.

Yeah this has happened to me as well. Same 3 digits on the second set; called back and some woman answered and said she had not called anyone recently. They must have figured out a way to rout the call through a legitimate number. I just never answer now when I see a number with the same digits as mine.
