I had someone in another thread recommend the Hiya app it's been a pretty good app with letting you know who it is that's calling and if it winds up being a telemarketer you can add it to your blocklist through the app and it's backend list as well.
So basically with everyone using the app it has a pretty large database to scan against to notify you.

This has been happening to me for awhile. I usually answer and play along for a bit and force them to hang up on me. It usually doesnt last long and they start cursing and what not. It's entertaining and I feel like someone has to do something. Just doing my part.
One yesterday said it looks like ive been making regular payments on my visa or mastercard (like at least dedicate to one, not a very convincing scam) and even paid more than the required amount. I told her this was not true. She got real mad and asked me why I pressed 9 to talk to them then. Told her they asked if I wanted lower rates and I said yes. She then had the nerve to ask me "why are you wasting my time?"
I absolutely love pissing these people off

I never pick up now unless I'm positive of who it is. If it's important, they will leave a message. Just add them to the block list after a couple of calls and no message.

All. Day. Long. I get calls from my own number. I get calls from numbers that have the same area code and first 3 numbers
The latest call I’ve been getting is from some dot Indian dude that claims to be some computer support tech and ask me what browser I’m using and then tells me to type in some address into the address bar. I know it’s a scam so I play along and frick with them.
I usually tell him I type in the address and he ask me what do I see and I tell him I see a picture of his mom taking a big black dick in the arse.
That usually riles them up and they start cursing back at me.
It’s a good way to kill time while driving.

They are using the local Area code (NPA) and the local calling area code (NNX) of your area as well as the same for your cell phone so you think it i is not a long distance call. It’s all smoke and mirrors phone company features mixed with their auto dialers.

They must have figured out a way to rout the call through a legitimate number
Caller ID spoofing, it's something that could be done for quite a while now. I remember doing it about 7-8 years ago. Back then there was an online service I used. You put your number and the number you want to call in, then the number you wanted to show up. The system dialed your phone and the phone you were calling and connected them together.

Yes, it's been happening a while now.
