The owner was very concerned about her employees so she got a loan to pay them which disqualified them for for the not working pay. They were furious with her.
This is fairly common.

They have given their employees the choice to either stay home without pay

Yeah it should qualify as a reduction in hours if employment is still guaranteed. My company has done that with some of our employees. They keep health benefits throughout too.

Oh I am definitely not the tip police and believe tips are earned for over and above service, but we have some good servers at some local spots who work hard and are being affected through no fault of their own so I’m making some exceptions for take out orders.

Also unemployment isn’t a handout.
The extra 600, which makes the pay competitive with working, is definitely a handout.

Are we gonna act like the same businesses we are talking about arent also looking for handouts?
Many small businesses will not reopen.

Created by an ultra unique situation and guidelines set forth by the government and out of the hands of the workers

Many unemployed will not get their same level of pay/job back. Only one gets villianized for trying to put food on the table.

They won’t get unemployment if they have a job offer or if they don’t return. It doesn’t work like that
You have way to much faith in our system. I have reported my employees before with tons of proof of them committing fraud and nothing has ever been done.

Why ? It isn't hard to convert a buffet to take out.

You don’t think more people will be leery of them?
I personally always thought they were disgusting, but I think more people will not trust buffets any more.

If 9/11 didn’t kill flights, this won’t kill anything. People will get comfortable again with doing everything they were doing before. It’s human nature.

And they told you they were going to open when?
I would have told that company to go frick themselves

You should have immediately reported them for that.
From there they will either have to fire or furlough you’re wife to allow benefits. It’s not like they can claim she quit if she didn’t

Most dont care, which is why this growing segment of the population stresses the system.
They will be the first ones screaming when the feds cut off the money spigot.
Many companies are trying to do the right thing and their employees do not appreciate it.

You seem.really angry at small business for some reason.

I could say the same to you about the people who have become unemployed during all this.

Yeah he's FOS.
You can't just quit your job and get benefits.

quote:If you're working but had your hours/pay cut due to covid you can still get unemployment benefits to make up for the difference in what you were making pre-covid. So if an employee refuses to go back to work because they want to sit home and milk unemployment until the end of July, I don't feel sorry for them one bit if the employer reports them and they lose their unemployment benefits
I can't really blame the workers, I guess. It's either make far less money than you did before or make far more money than you did before.

They laid them off two months ago. Then they rehired if they were able to get the SBA loans. They will lay them off again when the SBA loan expires. A lot of the employees would not go back when offered to be rehired, because they are making at least as much on unemployment, and they can smoke dope all day.
