Are private schools a good fit for engineering ?

Would a student benefit from going to a private school like USC, Tulane, wash u , candy.
Or an sec school ? Out if state or stay in state ?

MIT is private, I’ve heard their engineering programs are ok.

Engineers are practical and logical.
So no, an overpriced private school engineering degree would probably lead to a an engineer with questionable decision making skills.

Go to a state school.
Private is a waste of money for Engineering.
On top of that, the state schools will have better job placement services and industry connections.

Tulane largely eliminated their engineering programs after Katrina. USC is not a school known for engineering. Some private schools that are known for it are Rensselaur, Carnegie Melon, Stanford, and Vanderbilt.
For state schools, I recommend MIT, Florida, and Georgia Tech.
For value, Auburn, LSU, and A&M are all really solid.

MIT, Stanford, and Harvard are so impractical. Makes no sense for da smart engineers to go der.

At a particular level, "prestige" becomes over-valued.....
As far as Civil Engineering goes, dont waste your money on high-end programs. While I'd prefer my kids go to LSU over UNO, for example, I really don't think a degree from LSU out shines a degree from ULL or La Tech. In Houston, one get actually get more traction with a degree from UH.....aTm is another animal as the Aggie alum support each other versus LSU's who don't really give two shits about one another.

Lithette #3 (no pics) had a 3.98 in Chem Engineering and got a job with a renewable energy company in Portland. She's been promoted over engineers from Purdue and some west coasts school.

Honestly in my experience most ABET accredited schools are treated equally.
Private schools are rarely worth the ROI for engineering.
