Quick backstory:
I’m divorced. Trashy, I know; however, I have zero desire to marry again. Over the past few years, since divorce, I have been “blown up” by numerous married or committed women. I’ve lost faith. Are they all craving attention that much? Do they believe the grass is greener? Are many couples truly happy and committed?

The moral decline has led to marriage really not meaning much anymore.

God knows we are certainly not. We have 5 year old twins and at this part are good friends co-parenting. We both work well as a team, generally like each other, and have no interest trying to be single again.

It is what it is. I've got 40 or 50 more years in this world to get through then it's finally fricking done.

Me and my wife are. You've got to find one in the right quadrant of the hot-crazy matrix. Takes a little longer, but it's worth it in the long run

That’s an absolutely horrible outlook, but I totally get it.

I’m 14 years into my 2nd marriage and we’re very happy.
First marriage was a disaster though. Drugs and alcohol didn’t help

Most of the time we are happy. We are likely going to be empty nesters in 3.5 years so that will be an interesting change for us.

No, many aren’t. And it stems from society telling women they don’t need men and the courts basically agreeing with them. There are zero consequences in a marriage for a female, especially if you have kids. And since most women have this insane picture of what marriage really is, the second it gets difficult they bail or start looking for someone else to “make them feel needed.”

If you’re lucky enough to find someone to share the foxhole with that doesn’t run for cover as soon as the shells start falling, thank the good lord and do whatever it takes to keep her.

Most are not because their expectations of near perfection are nearly impossible.

A man who is mysterious but reliable, tough but nurturing, desired by other women but faithful, driven to succeed at work but home from work before 6pm, powerful but not arrogant

No more exists than a woman who is virginal but sexually adventurous, young but mature, beautiful but humble, nurturing but resilient

Within two years of becoming empty nesters, my wife and I were divorced.

I'd say that's pretty unlikely for us. We genuinely still enjoy each other's company and get along well and spend a lot of time together. But it will be odd not having kids in the house.

Something else I’ve seen a lot of. You can’t devote all your time to kids and then suddenly decide to be a couple again.

I’ve got family friends that were in this boat, wife was super involved in her kids, they never were apart, and then when their youngest left for college they were divorced in a year. They hadn’t been on a trip by themselves for more than a night for over 24 years. It’s like they didn’t even remember why they were married.

I think previous generations most likely felt the same, but they just dealt with it due to divorce being immoral in their eyes.

Yes.

Women have to get as much attention as they can, while they can, because there will always be someone younger and hotter.
