It gets easier.

Then it gets harder

Once you get them potty Trained it's awesome for about a decade.

Still rewarding after that, just in a different way. Teenage years are the hardest

My son is 12. He’s turned into a complete moron. Middle school kids are a lot of work. I teach middle school science. I’d say 12-17 is a roller coaster.

That's the easy stuff.

When you start dealing with an unpredictable child brain, that's when it goes off the rails.

To answer the OP:

My oldest is 4.5 and just started to be a smart arse and extremely defiant. He was practically an angel until about 2 months ago. Never had terrible 2s or 3s.

I am at the beach for two weeks with a 3 year old, 2 year old and a 6 week old. It cannot be worse than this.

I have 4 boys, aged 9, 4, 2, and 3 months. I’m gonna be dealing with ALL these problems at the same time pretty soon

Just glad I don’t have to deal with any girl nonsense. Anyone here have 4 boys?

Those ages are harder on parents physically and the older they get it becomes more emotional and mental. I remember those days and I can remember telling my wife …. “These are the good ‘ol days and we just don’t realize it.”
Now…. we both realize it. They grow up so dang fast.

When you get older you will look back and it will almost seem like a blur. Enjoy your days with your kids. They can be so hard but they are precious.

Toddlers are definitely easier they are still small enough to crate them and they can't call DCFS.

Dealing with 12-14 yr old girls is worse than any storm on record.

You haven't lived until you've "completely ruined their lives" 100s of times.

Is this a teenager?

Yes. I asked him directly if any of his friends gave him a hard time for not being on social media. He said, "No Dad. I don't care about that crap. It's just a waste of time."

Eta: this is a txt a got from his Eagle Scout Project Coach:

quote:

He's a very good young man!!
I've been around a lot of kids .
Very few impress me but this Kid did.
While I was doing something I came back to welding table & he was setting up the next material.
I didn't ask him to he did it with out being Told
You can't teach that.
He never was dicking off with these Damn Phones
I didn't even see one
In 20 years of being a Supervisor I've only endorsed 1 Kid
Now I can safely say I will endorse 2
Good Job Mom & Dad!!!!!

12-17 is awful. I don’t if me and the kid will both make it to her 18th. Give me my toddler hands down.
