Like it was mentioned earlier, it's probably fine. My usual work involves business casual, and I normally work some slacks and a button down shirt with rolled up sleeves. If you're that worried, you can wear the usual suit, but skip the tie, coat, or both.

Minimum is slacks and a button down.
I'd probably wear a sport coat instead of a suit.
It's always better to be overdressed and you always dress for the job you want.

Polos are only acceptable business casual on Fridays. Monday through Thursday go with a button down
This really depends on the industry.

I'm the only engineer in my group under the age of 40. They all dress like slobs. If all I wore were a polo that fit me well and pants that fit me well, I'd be the best dressed there.
I've got a buddy like you that dresses nicer to go get groceries than I do for work all week. To each his own.
Engineer check in: Boots, Jeans, un-tucked polo.

Post like this reminds me of how thankful I am to wear nice jeans and an Under Armor polo to work everyday.

Are khakis and a polo ok for business casual during the summer?
No. Never.

My office is business casual everyday. Polo and slacks most days. On cooler days, sweater or button down and slacks. I did the suit thing for years and don't want to go back

There is a middle ground between suits and looking like you work in a call center.

Nice meaning not faded, not torn, no holes. Not necessarily brand fricking new, but not old fricked up jeans.

Clearly you haven't seen my back pocket stitch/bedazzle game. I guess 'dress jeans' is a better description than 'nice jeans'

Which is normally how we dress at work. Nice polo or button up and slacks. To me, it's too hot down here half of the year to wear long sleeves

Yup, which polo and dirty jeans did you wear to work today?
I'm wearing a golf shirt, wrangler jeans, and new balance tennis shoes.
Engineering is the best.

I'd just wear a suit with the tie loosened a touch.
That's not business casual, that's just looking sloppy. Slacks and a button down or polo is business casual. Some places a polo isn't enough, it just depends on the office.

Only if it is the "Big Horse" Polo.
