If you’re the deceased, sure.

Males above the age of 12 should never go a wake in anything other than a suit, preferably a dark suit.

IIRC my dad wore something like khakis, polo with a blue blazer and hiking shoes at his father's funeral a few years ago. He doesn't own a suit.

No offense to your father, and maybe I'm a snob, but I don't understand how any adult male doesn't have one dark suit. You can get a decent suit at JP Penney for what, $200? You can get a suit at goodwill for what, $20?

Oh it's definitely not a money issue but that's about as dressed up as you are going to get my dad in his 70s

i'd imagine the fact that you show up is what's really important. i doubt the family of the deceased is going to be judging fashion.

My dad passed recently . I saw friends of mine I hadn’t seen since high school , and friends of my dads from his hunting camp and some of his pilot friends since he was a private pilot . I was thrilled to see each and every one of them and I did not care what they wore . They came . And that’s all I cared about

Black Wranglers with a black button down and boots with a black Stetson. That’s my standard wedding and funeral attire. Depending on the weather I have a sport coat or duster I wear as well.

Holy crap, there are some white trash people on this board. Jeans to a wake? Are you serious? How old are you? Jesus Christ...

I’m more casual in my everyday life than most, and could not care less about men’s fashion, but I also think it’s ridiculous that a grown man can’t at least put on a pair of slacks, and a dress shirt for a wake.
