Are Flight Attendants one of the most useless professions?

Do we really need someone to point and show us where the emergency exits and lavatories are on the airplane or to bring us pretzel packets and water? They do a poor job of it anyway because it’s confusing as to what they are pointing at.
I feel like this profession will be phased out as automation and robotics become more prevalent.

Have you been on a flight lately? You absolutely need flight attendants there to explain to "adults" how to act on a plane.
I swear, i don't understand how so many people are flying on a daily basis. The only thing that rivals the lack of proper hygiene and decorum in a public setting than in an airport/flight is wal mart.

this is true, in long flights they actually serve a purpose to serve you food and drinks over those several hour flights
in most cases regional flights they are there as glorified messenger service to say if the plane is late or you are about to crash
