If you're working in HR shouldn't you know this already?

At my work, we have an pre-employment and then probable cause. No random, or for promotions. I don't know if I've ever worked somewhere that drug tests for promotions.

Sounds like you are being paranoid. Why the frick would they drug test you in an office job? Unless they have probable cause or you crashed a company car or something.

Please get out of that field. HR is terrible. You will feel better about yourself in the long run.

Senior HR managers make bank, but you have to deal with a lot of shite. Especially if you're working at a company with trashy employees.

That sounds about like what it was at my last job. When I started there in 1984, drug testing wasn't really cost effective for most jobs. They gave a lie detector test and asked a bunch of questions about drug use and theft from previous employers. I think I was lucky I'd grown up poor with no money to spend on drugs.

They want to fire you, know you won't pass a test, so they offered you a "promotion" to ensure that you take said test.
