yes. very wasteful. but I did have an experience at a crematory in the basement of a funeral home that freaked me out. the deceased was going to be viewed and she was in a cardboard box; all mangled because she died doing a crossword puzzle. the lurch looking funeral guy asked if we wanted to stay and watch her go in the oven. (there was plexiglass and chairs) I was not watching gramma go in the oven.

Donate to science and cremate whatever's left of me when they're done.

Say what you want but a well done funeral service is carthartic and even life affirming. Family ties are strengthened by a traditional wake & service in a way no incineration quite pulls off.

These are not mutually exclusive. A family can have a wake and traditional service, but no burial and still get the same benefits.

If it were legal, I would just have my family throw me in a ditch somewhere.

Well, mine's gonna be a party.
Open bar, with drivers for those that over imbibe.
Jokes, funny stories, music, etc

Plus, funerals are right behind weddings for picking up the babes.

Yes. Scruffy has posted about this before. Two of the biggest wastes of prime real estate are golf courses and graveyards.

I'm all for cremation. One half of my family is cremated the other chose traditional burials. My personal experience shows that cremation is easier on the surviving family both financially and emotionally. Open casket funerals can be difficult.
