Don't purchase digital content.
This is exactly why.
It can be gone tomorrow.
You don't have the rights to sell it, after you've paid for it either.

If you want something, buy the disc. It's yours forever then. You can sell it to make some money back later even. And the quality of a Blu-ray disc is going to exceed what you get in streaming or digital download.

Nothing digital exists in perpetuity. There was a story a few years ago about Bruce Willis trying to bequeath his iTunes library (tens of thousands of songs) to his kids, until his lawyers went combing through the user agreement and saw that possession could not be transferred upon death.

laughing at my VHS collection now???

Not me. I have a pretty extensive cd music and dvd movie collection partly because I don’t trust streaming services to be there for me long-term. The trick, though, is to be sure you have working players and backups - they don’t last forever. Otherwise you wind up with a pile of shiny skeets.

If there's a movie that care anything about keeping, better buy it on DVD/BRD/BRD4K.

To be completely fair, the iTunes Store’s Terms of Service, which surely no one has ever read, do address this kind of incident.

Burn CD's of his library. Keep them.

I asked this question when I bought Disney titles that go back in the vault. Even though some are back in the vault, I still have access to my purchases through VUDU. But I like to a physical copy just in case.

This happened to me with an audiobook from the iBooks store. I was halfway through, restored my phone, and then when I went to re-download it it was not in my purchased books or even available in the store anymore. I contacted them and they gave me a full refund. Over however many years I've never had an issue with Apple issuing refunds - they've always been understanding.

Apple is not the only one. Also if you have purchased a game via Steam you need to realize that games can be removed from your library too. According to Steam's fine print you only purchased a license to play the game. Not the game itself.

This. Anyone who thinks Apple is the only platform capable of this is thinking arse-backward.

That's the consumer's fault for signing a term & condition without reading it.

This kind of story came out 10 years ago when Amazon deleted a book from everyone's Kindle for whatever reason.

I think 10-15 years from now when everything is connected to the cloud, there will start to be a migration back to unconnected devices.

Book it. (No pun intended)

r there is an album that during it’s remaster, has been altered from the original

this fricking blows. all streaming services seem to do this now on some of the biggest albums of all time.

i'm guessing its the digital equivalent of tipping the scales in favor of the streaming service..probably save a few pennies only offering the resung music.

and it always sucks. remastered = horseshite.

My cousin sent a funny video he took on iphone. I watched it like six times and then that was it I was denied any more access. It was as if Apple owned the rights and I only had so much access to it. Has this happened anyone else?

People who care about sound quality do.

They are the only ones that stream in 16 bit/44.1 k resolution (CD resolution), and now offer MQA streaming for those with a DAC capable of unfolding such a stream.

I use TIDAL because it sounds better than an mp3 stream. I also have the equipment capable of taking advantage of the higher resolution and delivering it.

The difference is easily noticeable.

This is precisely why I still buy Blu-rays and CDs. If I'm going to buy media with my hard-earned money I want to own it outright not lease it from a shithead corporation like Apple. Not to mention the quality is much much better

Best thing for you to do then is what I do. I buy on CD and then rip it to iTunes in apple lossless format on my computer hard drive. I then sync everything to my iPod classics that I keep in my cars and my first gen Apple TV in my living room. The

The quality is indistinguishable from CDs, at least to my ears.
