Or cell phone manufacturer's and/or the FCC would take the dicks of the telemarketing lobby out of their mouth and pass legislation/write the few lines of code making it impossible to spoof phone numbers.
Literally easier to do than make the screen dim in low light.

Even the voicemail tips them off that it is an active number.

What causes this? That's insane - I'd probably lose my mind. I maybe get a handful per month and I don't have this feature turned on.
I get 1-3 per day. I definitely know people who get way more.
The spammers/scammers scrape the internet for phone numbers. Other than never putting your phone number in an online form of any kind, not sure there’s anything you can do.
I have all non-contact incoming calls go directly to voice mail. Sucks when the occasional delivery guy or repair person calls to confirm a visit but it’s worth the trade off for me.

It was neato for the first two weeks until I saw the resources that liquid glass was using then I shut it down.
You know, my phone has drained more today than normal. How did you turn it off?

I love it. They’re required to provide information before the call comes through. I can watch the transcript live and decide if I want to answer. No information? No notice of a call.

As of "today" it can't be completely deleted but that option is coming in future iOS updates. Folks like me that are over the age of 21 and are in situations where charging every 12 hours isn't convenient aren't happy about Liquid Glass.
Go to Settings > Accessibility > Display & Text Size and toggle on Reduce Transparency

Even the lack of an error message confirms the number is active.

Sorry apple can't be creative, always easier to copy someone else.

That really sucks for people like me who run a small business who use that phone number on all my advertising. You never know if its a fricking advertisement or someone calling to make an order.
One thing I learned a long time ago, when people want to make an order or book a fishing trip, you do it then. Dont wait. Waiting will lose you a big percentage of those sales
So not answering is a big problem. The last two to three months, my BS calls has gone throug the roof
Frustrating
