Black guy becomes mayor and his first move is a corrupt, reward your friends with a federal government slush fund project. Man, they just can’t help themselves. He’ll be in jail in 5 years for this.

I tried to get the Netflix trainwreck series to grab it but they said there’s too much ick around it with underage kids involved.

I agree about the low income housing, but what's wrong with a jobs program for young people?

Ok, since you asked…

What exactly is a local government run jobs program.. do you know? does anybody? What will they do? Hand out applications to McDonald’s? The emotional part of it feels good. But a bureaucracy cannot do anything like this effectively. They’ll say it’s for the po kids but that’s total BS.

The truth is it’s just a money grab to get a pool of state or federal money. They’ll never really implement it, they’ll just steal the money. It won’t help a single kid. Not one. It’s misdirection while they loot that development.

And it’s typical sounds good, feels good crap that won’t actually do anything. Seriously think about it. I got my first job the old fashioned way..I filled out an application.

And finally, they already have “job training programs for yutes “. They’re called college, junior college, vo tech schools, trade schools, etc.. there is absolutely ZERO need for some little shitty city to pretend to attempt this.

What do people do to make a living there? Is there a plywood plant or something?

They have a hell of a butcher shop there though. It was one of the few highlights of being stuck at Polk for 6 months. Longest 3yrs of my life…

I think there is a Boise Southern facility somewhere up in that general area. I would think the biggest employer is Fort Polk just up the road in Leesville.

I always predicted there would be a “someone put something in her drink” defense to this. Question is-why didn’t the original defense lawyers go with this? Why would it only be brought up first the first time during an appeal? Maybe a lawyer question?

Soileaus? It's ok. I wouldn't call it a hell of a butcher shop. And Rosepine has no reason to exist rather than be consolidated into Deridder. It's basically just a neighborhood.

Other than the army, I'm not sure. My mom was the counselor at East Beauregard HS in BFE.

Couple of paper or wood/chip mills, school system, insurance, but quite a few more self employed folks than you 'd imagine

(reminder (or a response to more vulgar and harassing messages in this topic): this Biblical verse: "Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them." - Ephesians 4:29, New Living Translation version)

(one more suggestion: a certain "golden rule" ("a rule of ethical conduct referring to Matthew 7:12 and Luke 6:31: do to others as you would have them do to you" - Merriam-Webster dictionary definition))
