It was Joe Biden who led the senate committee exonerating any wrongdoing by the FBI and ATF.

How they got a warrant in the first place is also a complete joke.
An undercover agent filed a report with the federal magistrate that stated he "observed the upper and lower receivers of disassembled AK-47s".
This is a statement, made by an agent of the bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and FIREARMS

Not defending Koresh but dude jogged the same route daily by himself. Could’ve easily been picked up without incedent. On a side note I went out there one time while working in Waco and surprisingly a lot of it has been rebuilt and they don’t necessarily like people out there sight seeing.

Which is hilarious because there was no evidence of any "illegal weapons" on the premises.
None of the receivers they were in possession of were illegally obtained or modified.
What is your source for this bizarre assertion?
This was a terrible mess, but you missed the boat here.
Several of the people who were convicted of shooting the agents had sentence enhancements due to their use of machine guns. Look at the trial record and the appeal to the 5th Circuit. The defendants actually argued that their converted weapons were not illegal because that law was unconstitutional. They lost that argument.

Absolutely, them ending up dead was a much better outcome.

Lake is a retard. Even if Koresh was a pedo the answer isn’t to kill the victims. It would be like if Jodie’s dad shot the pedo and then Jodie just because.
The gov fricked this up and wanted a show. They got one and then got the OKC incident in retaliation to it.

That doesn't actually mean that their weapons were illegally modified. You can easily say "the law I was convicted of violating is unconstitutional, and I didn't even break it anyway." On appeal it's actually pretty common to argue disjunctively like this.

They mishandled the frick out of Waco.
Judging them by their actions and their statements, I don't think the federal government "mishandled" it. There's an underlying assumption in it being "mishandled" that they wanted to settle the matter without inflicting great suffering on innocent civilians. If that were truly their goal then they would never have selected the means they did.
No, they were out to flex their muscles with a big show of force to intimidate ordinary Americans, and I would say they "handled" that situation perfectly for that goal.

I can see that argument they got what they wanted and they even got the response they wanted with the bombing. It gave reason to expand the gov surveillance and militarization of all agencies.

It’s a shame that we supposedly live in “the land of the free” yet can get burned alive by our crooked, tyrannical, incompetent government. The U.S. government has not been on the same side of the people for decades.

Regardless, Waco was a debacle, and ATF would be well-served to avoid reminding folks how badly they screwed up.
frick the ATF and what would well serve them. The people would be well served to be rid of the ATF, CIA, FBI, NSA, and every other unconstitutional, unelected government alphabet soup bureaucracy.

I understand the vitriol directed at the ATF and general mistrust of government alphabet agencies. That said, Rob Williams graduated a year ahead of me at my high school and he was a good guy, from a good family.
Just a good ole boy trying to get back home to his family, huh?

They lost both the factual issue and legal argument.

It really is. The governments way to save them was to kill them. That's so progressive.
