I was just thinking a few days ago about this historic moon landing.
And then it dawned on me that after all these years with all of the improvements in technology that here we are 55 years after Americans put their footprints in the lunar dust that the only footprints on the moon are still made by Americans.
No other country has been able to do it.

I was watching Apollo 13 on youtube, it's free right now and realized it's the whitest movie ever made.

I was nearly 4. My aunt was giving birth to one of my cousins in my grandparents house and there were a BUNCH of us watching on TV. I remember us going out in the yard to see if we could see the rocket (south side of Atlanta). The adults swore they could see it so I swore I could also but I really did not, not that I knew anyway. My sister stepped on a dog bone while in the yard and ripped her foot open....we left and went to the emergency room. It was a memorable night even for a 3 year old.

Just out of curiosity, what, precisely, are you laughing at?

Received this from the crew after they got back home. Not bad for a baw from Basile, LA.
My grandpa was from just outside butte, mt. No aerospace degree, but he's deputy chief engineer of the 3rd stage for apollo 11. Took over as chief later that year. Here's their team at the cape... non white coat in the back row, without glasses. It's one of his less nerdy looking pics

Wasn't there a woman from La that worked on the Apollo program?
Can't remember her name, but she was pretty hot.

Hedy Lamarr? She was pretty hot, but I think she did her best work in WWII.

I was there for the launch, down by the beach, barely remember it - I was 6 on my way to 7. Still have the black light poster of the launch.
