Fwiw my I went thru the same stuff at my old apartment. I took a week off work and had the neighbors on standy by that no one other than me should be at my apartment. On the second day off I had someone break the window and try to Jimmy the lock. As soon as I heard glass break i started yelling as loud as I could while I ran upstairs to grab my 12 gauge. The guy ran off and I never had an issue again.

I only wish he would have come in. He'd have caught some serious buckshot to the chest.

Is it okay if we imagine that's your sister and neighbor in the second pic?

Oh, and indoor/outdoor surveillance camera systems are pretty affordable these days.

I don't think they want to rob you... sounds more like they want to rape you. Probably want to abduct you and your sister to sell into sex slavery. Do you have a nice arse?

I would stay at home and jerk off, then when they break in, tell them "I'm so glad you showed up" as you look them in the eyes

Leave a note:

"I saw you the first time and followed you home. If you leave now, I won't ever go back to your house and I'll leave now too."

Well as a matter of fact.....

My sister is leaving for school at some point today, so I told her to let me know when so I can swing by a minute or two after she leaves. I can't take off work this week.

I have no issue blowing an intruder away and going about my business.

invest in a quality video surveillance system and conceal carry in case it's needed

I have a few guns in the house (secured), and I carry one with me in my truck.

The parking spots are literally 10 feet from the front door. If I ever see something fishy, I'll just walk to the door with gun in hand.

If you have a laptop with a webcam, you can rig a streaming camera through a window in the short term.

Yea, that' why you started screaming to run him off by letting him know someone was home.

As someone that "breaks" into vacant houses often I will tell you this doesn't mean shite. Most locks people buy at big box stores are crap and can be twisted with a pipe wrench or it takes about 10 seconds for someone with a rake pick or bump keys if they know how to use them.

Is it worth while to take out the short screws they use on the plate and replace with 3-4 inch screws?

- Get alarm.
- Put an alarm sign by your exterior doors. They actually can work.
- Get surveillance system. They’re actually much cheaper than you’d think.
- Call your landlord to see if they sent anyone there and ask about the X.
- Spray paint over the X to make it the color of the asphalt.

Also, I saw this thing online that looks like a Bose speaker or something, but it’s a motion detector and if it gets set off, it is fricking LOUD. Like a full blast siren. And it was like $50 and you just plug it in by your front door and set the timer when you leave.

When we move into our new house in the Fall, I'm definitely getting one.

I should spray an X in front of everyone else's unit. Dude won't know who to rob.

The landlord assured me she did not send anyone.

Do those guys go in your house? I'm confused. You plug this thing in by the front door, it connects via blue tooth on your phone so it deactivates when you're within a pretty big range, but otherwise blares a siren like a bose portable speaker on full blast when someone activates motion sensor.

The burglar could easily break it or cover it up, but the initial noise scares the frick out of people

They have youtube videos of burglars running away from them.
