I recently moved into a place near the campus lakes in the Garden District of Baton Rouge (past the overpass of George's). The door was busted down and a few things stolen. I moved in a month ago and was still in the process of moving things in. I do have renter's insurance. I was aware of being smart about not keeping valuables out in the open in your car, but did not expect something this extreme. What would you do? Any ways to burglar alarm a rented apartment? I've never felt this violated and susceptible..

Also this is the first time I've lived alone. Not what I wanted to happen

shite happens. It absolutely sucks when someone takes your shite. Accept it and move on. Don't let it rule your life. A LOUD alarm works. Only because it encourages them to grab something and leave. Buy that and take it with you when you move.

BTW, sorry some worthless frick took your stuff and caused you mental anguish.

Get landlord to purchase an alarm system.

Then buy a gun.

Put in a camera that other guy in BR had that was on the news. Caught the guy on camera and was a clear picture.

And get a gun.

Highly doubt. Very few people know where I moved into.

my house was burglarized once and I know exactly what you are saying...home should be safe, but after something like that, it doesn't feel safe at all. My first reaction was to start fortifying everything (i.e. reinforcing doors, dead bolts, etc.)...but the fact of it is, if someone wants to get into your house, it really doesn't take much force at all to do so.

Folks that do this kind of shite really are some pretty lazy/stupid people, so they generally knock on the door, etc to be sure no one is home before they break in. as far as I am concerned, the best bet is to get a dog or some kind of alarm that will kick up a ruckus if they do it again. I travel a good bit, so I also set up a few lights on timers to come on and off randomly between about 8 and midnight to make it look like someone is always home.

unfortunately, there is no really good answer...but that is what I did and it did make me feel better over time.

You should get a gun. That's a pretty sketch ball place you live. I'd be packing. The TPOS in the area are always gonna be watching you.

You should get a gun, that will help next time someone breaks in when you aren't around... but really and alarm will help and a dog if you can take care of it, or stop being poor and get some personal security

Understood. It hasn't happened to me because my dog would leave a corpse on the welcome mat.
