Perkins Rowe is getting pretty bad. The last 2 times I’ve been there I was encountered by homeless people on both occasions.
Really? The last time I was there was the Saturday before Mother's Day and it was packed.. There were a few things going on there, but I didn't notice anyone homeless people or people begging for money... Of course, I was there for about an hour in the middle of the day and since there was a lot going on, they might have been making them leave, but the areas where I always see them are.
- College Drive.
- Corner of College & Corporate (at the traffic light. I thought it was against the law to ask for money at traffic lights?)
- Right outside the north gates at LSU... On highland.
- Siegen, north of the interstate.
Either way, something really needs to be done about it.
Are there really some people who are homeless and have access to zero resources? I know the ones asking for money are drunks and dope fiends, but it seems like there are resources available for people who at least need the basics,

I used to get approached by a black couple almost every time I went to the Chick Fil A on College. I would always end up giving him a $5. I knew he was legit though because he would always show me his drivers license.

This man I knew was homeless because at least once a week I would see him walking around downtown at 10-11 am digging through trash cans outside of restaurants looking for food.
The guy with the studdered gate that always read the paper. I haven't seen him in a while. I heard he was a fairly intelligent guy who never begged.

I was fighting with my gf over the calories in my double chocolate chip Frappuccino, so I offered it to him at the red light. He said he can't have it because he's an alcoholic and the sugar messes with his system
I'm curious. Are you a millennial?

I am not sure. I can tell you he would ALWAYS check the trash can right outside the Subway. I was working at the restaurant across the street so when I was working mornings and saw him, I would walk over to Subway and get him some food.
I can for sure tell you he never asked for any money from me even before I would buy him a sandwich and still never after. He was always very appreciative and thankful.

This dude was just a junkie looking for a fix.
We had a work meeting and were cleaning out and loading the trucks and he comes up with this BS story about how he lost his wallet and was with the cops...blah blah bullshite, he was asking everyone, comes up to me and I ignore him at first.
Then he gets mad I’m ignoring him and I tell him to get away, I’m not giving him anything. Then he keeps on and calls me an a-hole so I tell him to frick off and get away.
He keeps on and I tell him very aggressively to get the frick away from me and get out of here. He tells me he’s a millionaire and makes 75$ an hour and he’s got a pregnant wife in the motel six and I tell him to frick off and sell his bullshite somewhere else. These are working men here.
He walks about 100 feet away and then turns around and says “you wanna talk shite? You wanna talk to these hands?”
And starts coming my way again.
I tell him not to come any closer. He continues, i tell him to get the frick away and he’s got his hands in fists and so I grab the closest thing, a 3’ cutlass machete and pull it from it’s sheath. Then he stops and says “ you’re gonna pull a knife on me?”
Then all the rest of the guys hurry up and get between us and get him away. The supervisor gets him out of there,
Just bullshite, I can’t stand junkies. I wasn’t about to let him get close enough to pull anything on me though.

The bald headed black lady who hangs near Staring and Perkins and talks to imaginary people is my favorite.

We need to start taking pics of these people and come back and post them in this thread. Curious to see who all sees the same characters everyday

Who is the pimp in charge of all these bums? Same in slidell. They will switch spots as if they're on shift every few hours, but never see a box or anything under the bridge where they sleep.

I believe that many of these people are living on Dawson's creek behind the businesses.
I've heard there is a box or tent city there but I looked when i went to coffee call the other day and didn't see one...maybe its closer to mcdonalds

I use the Siegen on-ramp every day going home from work. Its always a different person. Although I haven't been seeing anyone there recently. Must be too hot for 'em.

Yea they have camps back in the woods. 30 or 40 seems high to me. They remain transient though. Might do a night or two in a motel if they hustle up the money. Squat in a building, maybe a shelter. Many of them travel all over the country looking for something, or more often running from something.
