I was a Casino Host at two major off strip casinos in Vegas in mid 2000s for 5-6 years.
- One of the Maloof brothers would go on benders and play $50K hands, berate hookers, piss himself at the table (insert Costanza gif)
- High limit rooms, people piss themselves all the time.
- Bill Goldberg would complain about how loud the casino was every visit.
- Jennifer Lopez treats people like shite. Ben Affleck is pretty cool.
- We paid John Daly $50K as an appearance fee to meet and greet our high end players the night before our golf tournament. His manager said to just put the $50k back into the cage as JD was going to gamble that night. Next morning I checked and he lost right around $375K (mostly slots with about hour of blackjack)
- Sportsbook was robbed at 6am once by dude in full motorcycle gear.
- Local poker table grinders suck
- Some of the high end Mexican clientele would rival the Saudis on bet amounts.
I made some good friends that I still speak to , however, after 5-6 years in that business I had to get out.
- Tips and perks were fantastic, however hours sucked. No holidays off
- started to get depressing seeing customers I met in year 1 come in with $100k lines of credit, and 2-3 years later D.A. has warrants out for their arrest for passing bad checks, multiple fraud attempts, they would just look like they aged 15 years. Depressing business.

You don’t have to be very quick when you’re naked.
No one really wants to catch you.

he told me it was against the law to let me in with an expired ID. it didnt matter to him that id celebrated my birthday at his casino and that the ID expired on that day.
the law didnt matter as much when it became known to him we were leaving WITH money. see triple seven tiger, they dont like when you do that. the amounts trivial. dont get caught up on that. it wouldve been alot cooler if it was 60k, and wouldnt have meant shite to him if it was 60 bucks, but 600 bucks was enough to make him rethink his decision. we woulda stayed if he hadnt given me the initial hard time.
stories are always better when you have to explain it this way so thanks for the opportunity

Fights aren’t frequent, lots of grown men end up downstairs naked or in their underwear after getting trick rolled. We used to have a lady in her 40s, looked like a truck driver, who would sit and play slots with her early 20’s blonde ‘pet’ who she always had on a leash. She’d rub her pussy for good luck.

Did a stint in HR for one.
Sat with director of Surveillance and watched a bartender spit in drinks of people who weren’t tipping waitresses.
True story.

It’s not against the law to let you in with an expired ID, they just can’t let you gamble. He probably told you you could stay and watch your girlfriend gamble but you couldn’t place any bets.
Same thing happened to me with William Hill sportsbook. Went to go place some baseball bets on my birthday and my account was locked. They wouldn’t even let me withdraw my $1500 until I got my license renewed.

One of my best friends was a poker dealer at Harrahs. He dealt to Michael Jordan a few times.

Was playing cards at this one place in Vegas back in the day. Man, my feet were hurting, so I took my boots off and propped my feet up. Casino manager got in my face. I called him a fggt, he deserved it. He threw me out anyway. To add insult to injury, my best friend when he found out hit me with a telephone. Man, F both those guys .

Had to have been a pretty interesting job. I've always wondered how cool it would be to be involved with something like that on the strip.

It was, something new every day. Great perks and tips. Got to go many boxing matches, concerts, sporting events, etc.
However, you are on your customers time. Forget weekends and holidays off. Anytime you deal with the public and then throw in drinking and losing money. It just got depressing. I was in my mid 20's so could function on little to no sleep. No way I could do it now. But it was interesting.
Also working with some of the older guys/ladies that had been doing it for 20+ years...they were always angry and hated coming to work. Haha

My late uncle won $1.5M at the Beau Rivage. He drove over to a Lexus dealership in Mobile and bought his wife an $80K Lexus convertible.

A couple months back at GN Lake Charles, some guy blew his brains out all over the balcony because he lost everything per the head maintenance guy there. You didn’t hear about it on KPLC because it would have been PR nightmare. I felt sorry for those Latina cleaning ladies.
