have a 16 platinum ecoboost. 15k no problems so far. Average about 17-18 with a little bigger tires than stock. love the seats and tech. Hate that it says PLATINUM on it (especially the tailgate).

I've seen a few leveled platinums with BFGs and can attest that they're some of the best looking trucks you'll ever see, but those enormous tailgate stamps look gaudy and ridiculous.

My dad has a '15 King Ranch and it's a very nice truck, almost over the top in terms of the frills. I have a 2016 Tundra and like it. Doesn't come with the myriad options Fords and GMs come with nowadays but it's a solid truck. Gas mileage is horrendous, though.

It's ok you are among friends. Apparently, Ford is the most affordable, while Dodge has the engine, and Chevy is the most comfortable.

Ford has a great AC and heater.

I love driving my dads 05 Dodge Ram (95,000 miles) 4 dr with the midsize V8 but the AC sucks otherwise it also have been a good truck.

Had to change out his speedometer cable, instrument cluster, and a new alternator.

I just like how my F150 with dual straights, l18" glass packs, 3" tips, with no muffler or cats sounds good....and very loud...

FX4
156k
Bigger wheels and tires
17-19mpg
Only problems have been AC evaporator coil ($700 due to having to take out console and dash) also had a bad piston misfire which cost about $200.
I drive Uber in it, run a lawn care business, hunt, fish, work on farm and can still clean it up and take it into town if I want.
Have just done routine maintenance on it. Bought with 40k miles for $20k in 2009

Edit - V8 5.4 not sure what dual exhaust the guy before me put on but it's loud and mean sounding.
I would recommend this truck but buy used after someone else put all the bells and whistles on it

So much jelly for Ford. Love my F150. Owned first one for 10 years and bought another.

I have a 2012 FX4. Like mine. Love the ride compared to every other truck I've been in, though the latest Chevy's ride pretty good. I'm old and until about 3 years ago I did a LOT of driving so ride is important. Had an 01 Lariat before that. They never left me on the side of the road or hunting for a rental to get where I needed to go.

A couple of things if I were buying brand new:

1 - Get the *, the Ecoboost is not terrible but doesn't really gain you any in terms of gas mileage.

2. I like the Ford Sync but the factory nav system maps are crap and they want to charge you a $100 for updates that are still years behind Garmin. Don't think they are worth it, see if there is another option (I do not know what is available now). I like the screen, however and much prefer that for the backup camera than the rearview option.

Those are my thoughts. Enjoy your new ride, whatever it ends up being.

'17 XLT with the 3.5L Ecoboost, 10 speed transmission, and about 3500 on the odometer.

I like it just fine. No specific complaints other than the shift into 3rd is a little rough.

I just took it on a trip. I get about 18-19mpg in the city. About 24 at 70mph and 28 at 60mph.

Im a Toyota fan but I bought a new F150 and must say its technologically advanced to the Tundra. I dont know if its as dependable as Toyota yet but its a well thought out truck. As far as anything else domestic, GM and Dodge are not even in the conversation.

I have a 2009 F-150 Platinum. Has 155K miles and has been the best truck I have owned. I have had only minor issues with it and will be replacing it soon with another F-150.

Have a 2016 XLT Supercrew with the 2.7 EcoBoost. I don't tow anything, just wanted something with lots of room and ability to haul if needed.

It's a year old and so far so good. I really wanted a GMC, but you get so much more for your money with a Ford.

Mine has nice power and gets average about 20 mpg. If you buy, go in November/December when they have incentives on steroids. Also, get a 2017 because they're looking to get those off the lot and will work with you on price.

'17 5.0

It's soft on the bottom end compared to the Ecoboost engines. The 2.7 was actually more fun for daily driving. The 5.0 pulls HARD once it starts revving though.

I don't see a point to the 2.7. Either go with the V8, or the 3.5 EB.

I thought the Chevy had sloppy handling. Felt like I was steering a boat. But otherwise really nice and looks good.

I haven't driven a new Ram but I do like the looks and I see a lot on the road so they must be ok.

The one thing about the F150 I don't like is the chin scoop, makes the already-bully front look a little low and squatty (if 2wd).

Fairly typical of my Ford F-150 experience....except I also seemed to go through alternators every year and the rear window leaked in the rain.

It was on sale though.

I had a 2014 KR ecoboost with 120k miles gave me no problems. Traded it in for a 2017 Lariat ecoboost FX4. So far so good with 35k miles

Before these 2 Ford trucks, I've had 1 Dodge and 3 GMC's and the Ford trucks are by far the best trucks I've ever driven. That includes best towing trucks as well.
