I would avoid ecoboost. Seems there are lots of problems with them if you google.

2002 F150 XLT 4.6 V8. 200,000 miles.

New alternator and fuel pump the only things I've had to replace...

Should note that my 2012 Lariat with 135K miles has the 6.2 V8 in it and not an economist.

2016 3.5 ecoboost sport. Really like it and love the way it drives.

My company truck is a 2014 Ford XLT super cab with the 5.0 V8. 115k miles on it and only one set of tires/battery and scheduled maintenance. No problems and it looks and drives like new (especially after the 100k service). Average MPG is 21 with mostly highway driving. I like it more than the newer ones to be honest. Newer employees that have the ecoboost and aluminum body actually like mine more and mention that the ride is a little smoother and has less body torque. I work for a Houston based company that gets their trucks from Mak Haik Ford in Houston. Cheaper than Louisiana dealers with less hassle.

2016 xlt super crew fx4 with 5.0. Have 25k on it, so far so good. Gets around 19mpg. I would buy another over anything else out there right now.

I just bought a Tundra, for no other reason than I liked the way it looks with the off road package.

I nearly bought a F150 though, and it's probably the best truck out there. I'd stay with the 5.0 V8 though. Runs great and seems more likely to have fewer problems. Heard too many horror stories with the ecoboost.

Unfortunately all of the KR i could find at the time that were a solid color had the stupid chrome package with the chrome bumpers and same tailgate thing.

Yea, it can be difficult, but I ended up finding a KR without the chrome package.

I had a Ford with the 4.6 too. 250xxx miles. Still a work truck. Pretty convinced it's the best gas motor they ever made. Only parts i changed besides regular maintenance stuff was the starter.

2013 Lariat with now almost 140k miles on the ecoboost engine. I've had zero problems. I change oil every 5k.

I hear about EB problems on msg boards but don't personally know anyone who's experienced them.

Wasn't it kind of weak though for a V8? Like 220hp?

I have owned three F150s with the 4.6 motor. The 4.6 won't win any races but the body, suspension, and interior will fall apart before the engine fails.

Have a 2013 Lariat 4X4 with 5.0. Would not recommend and will not buy another Ford. 15.1 avg mpg, replaced catalytic converter at 58K. Been in shop 3 times. Multiple interior things go haywire at different times. Steering wheel controls are junk, seats are terribly uncomfortable on long drives, etc.

Now rain the downvotes....won't make this piece of crap any better.

I rent new vehicles for work regularly. Have had a F150 V8 and an Expedition EB all within the past two weeks. The F150 was awesome. Engine had plenty of power. Would buy. The EB felt very sluggish. Hate to state the obvious, but it felt like a V6 in a full size vehicle. If I am buying, V8 all day.

Surprising to hear since the main attraction of the ecoboost is it's superior power
