It didn’t charge after him. It was startled and hauled arse swimming to get away. Probably a decent size gator to throw a wake to flip that kayak though.
See them all the time in my 18’ boat and when they do that, you can definitely feel the bump of the wake.

Paddles into an little area a mile or some from the Barataria canoe launch on the twin canals... glided right into a hidden pile of hatchlings....when they started yipping it was definitely time to go...Mama couldn't be far away and I had nothing to say to her.

I kayaked in multiple swamps. Outside of a couple of snakes catching a ride, never really had any issues.

I kayak/pirogue in the swamp quite a bit. Had a gator surface near me once that was so big it made me get cold shivers. They don't mess with you unless you mess with them, though.

You would think that guy would learn to stop kayaking in that part of Germany. That same gator just keeps attacking him over and over again.
