Link?

Just kidding. You're totally wrong.

Also: having a dealership install an entire new engine when a simpler fix would've solved the issue is just dumb. New cars have warranties for a reason. How many engine replacements have your dealers' mechanics done? You think they'll do it to the same precision as the factory that does hundreds per day? Good luck!

Once you sign the papers that bitch is yours.

I don't know a dealership one that would just take it back. You gonna have to buy a another one. Hopefully the dealership will give you what you paid for it so you don't carry any negative equity over.

There may not be a specific cooling off period in the Louisiana, but I've been told by a couple of different lawyers that contracts are "very difficult" and "essentially impossible" to enforce within the first 72 hours ... provided you're willing to push the issue.

Maybe there's some legal maneuvering that can be done?

Ah, I wonder if all reputable dealers allow it then.

I do know (from a dealer buddy of mine) that it isn't yours until you "take delivery" - usually by driving it off the lot.

He said that's a trick they use when they can tell someone is nervous about it after they sign the papers. They'll say something like "just take it home for the night" or "take it to lunch and see how you feel." And as soon as you're off the lot, bam, it's yours.

shite like that is what gives dealers a bad name, but they don't seem to care.

That's why I always carry the Truck Nutz with me on the test drive. Better safe than sorry.

You need to get to know some better lawyers...

I'm sure that if you tell that to the boys down at Jenkins Pontiac-Kia they will cave right in and issue a full refund.

Dealerships have attorneys also. If a person is at the dealership, signs purchase agreement and/or financial agreement with ALL stipulations met, drives off with vehicle, they have bought a vehicle in the Sate of Louisiana.

Definitely no cooling off period in the state of Louisiana. I see dealer contracts every day. It's in big bold letters about no cooling off period. With that being said, I've dealers taken back vehicles before but it's rare.

Their are a couple other ways to get the dealer to buyback the vehicle depending on who you financed with. Certain lenders require certain stipulations met by the customer. If they aren't, the lender will bounce the contract back.

I would at least bring it back to the dealer and see if they will work with you. I'm sure if you are willing to spend more on something bigger on their lot, they won't screw you too bad.

You're right. I always assumed it was a law since you are asked to waive (or i guess acknowledge the lack of) that right while signing papers.

Never took the time to really look into it.

Best bet may be to try and go back and upgrade to a larger truck and they may take it back.

The right to return the car in a few days for a refund exists only if the dealer grants this privilege to buyers.

This is one case where the OP literally needs to check his privilege.
