I do. It got to a point where I thought I was going to go insane... but, after a couple of months I got used to it. Really nothing else to do for it.

this is the correct answer unfortunately.

Thanks for ruining my afternoon.

There are several suggested remedies, none of which have helped me. I always had earplugs in, but shooting a .300 in a small plywood box pretty much made those useless. And it likely goes back to sitting directly in front of the drum line during my 3 years in the GBFTL. LSU hates woodwinds.

I've had tinnitus as long as I can remember. I think it is due to the many ear infections I had as an infant, but I can't be sure. I didn't even know I had it until I read about it, and then everything made sense. As is, my hearing is not so bad that I'll fail a test, but sometimes I'll miss some of the sounds of a word or something.

Since I've had it all my life, I'm used to it, and it's usually just background noise unless I pay attention to it. I mostly notice it in quiet rooms, but it also gets louder in loud places like bars or concerts, so I usually can't understand anyone in those places and may just end up miserable.

There is no official drug cure for it, but as some posters said, some methods or meds can work. I've also read some allergy meds and even a drug for treating alcoholism can improve or cure it.

"It's All Gone Pete Thong" is one of the greatest documentaries ever about tinnitus, cocaine, sluts, and life after accepting you are deaf.

Highly recommended.

Actually, earplug use for tinnitus over time can exacerbate symptoms. The only evidenced based treatment out there for tinnitus is called TRT- tinnitus retraining therapy. Most in the medical community are not trained properly on understanding and treating tinnitus. My best advice to you is to find an audiologist who specializes in it (not all do). If you only have tinnitus (without dizziness, aural fullness, or fluctuating hearing loss) you do not have Ménière's disease.

I have it after serving 4 years in artillery. Only thing you can do to help and get your mind off it is constantly have other noise around you. I sleep with a small box fan. That helps a lot when the house is quiet. Pretty sure there is no cure for it either.

For as long as I can remember. Never tried anything. Don't think anything works. Ears are just old.

I didn't mean earplugs to treat the tinnitus. I was referencing using them at his work as tinnitus is often a sign of hearing loss, which ear plugs in an industrial setting could prevent.

May want to get checked out , hearing test etc.

Unilateral tinnitus esp if associated with asymmetric hearing loss will prompt someone scan you (mri).

Also if tinnitus noise beats in pattern , also worth getting checked out.

Tinnitus by and large is symptomatic control but there are some causes of tinnitus that need to be worked up and looked into and can be treated.

Ear & Balance Institute in BR, I used to go to them. Was diagnosed with Meniere's. The last time went to them was 07 (I think). The ringing in my ears was so loud and I was so dizzy, I couldn't sit up. They prescribed me 2 Rxs and after taking them for a week or two, the issues including the tinnitus went away.

I still have flare ups, but nothing like the 07 issue. I still get crazy motion sickness, but after a bazillion tests and two years of symptoms driving me completely nuts, this finally worked.

I have to avoid artificial sweetners at all cost. one touch on the tongue and the ringing will wake me up at night. I would see if they affect you. if they do then natural sugar probably does also, but to a lessor degree. Lived with it 6 years now, not easy sometimes.

I've had it for about 7-8 years now. It's so loud that I have to use a noise maker at night to fall asleep. Went to ENT but no help. It sucks but I just live with it. Just failed my first hearing test too.

Sounds like me. I now wear hearing aids during the day. The ringing seems a bit better when I'm wearing my hearing aids, but I'm not sure if that is a coincidence or not.

Have it. Remember all those crank-it-up contests in the late 80s. I was one of the idiots sitting in the cars judging. ??

Hearing aid does help tinnitus when associated with hearing loss. And agree with noisemaker at night. I use brown noise app on phone.

I've had it for a decade and diagnosed about 8 years ago. Crickets.

Several things. I don't hear my wife or kids. I turn the tv so loud they leave.

Winning.

I do. And it intensifies if I drink a few alcoholic drinks. The only way to get to sleep is to drink enough to pass out.
