Anyone see the story on WBRZ about the couple who adopted?

This story confused me. They're just a random couple who adopted and got a story done? Why them? They aren't the first and won't be the last to adopt locally. They said the wife painted ~200 paintings six months and they raised like $40k?

Anyone know them? There has to be more to the story.

Regardless, I think adoption is a great thing and definitely takes a special person to do it. The story itself just seemed odd.

What's even more strange is it was a two part story. Showed one part one night and then another story the next night.

BATON ROUGE - Cary and Tyler Koch went through almost a year of paperwork in order to bring their baby girl Isabelle home from her birthplace in Georgia. With a 10 hour car ride, The Koch's got into their vehicle knowing that it would be the last time it would be the two of them, but when they returned to Louisiana, they would be starting their new lives as parents to a new born baby.

The Koch family raised money for months in order fund their adoption process, which can run in excess of $40,000. Tyler painted hundreds of canvases and works of art and sold them online, every sell getting them closer to their goal.

But their journey starts not long after the couple was married. Like many newly weds they were asked when they were going to have a baby. After time had passed the couple discovered they fell into the same trouble one in eight couples struggle with, infertility.

Tyler says they weren't at peace with going through fertility treatments, and her and husband Cary decided that adoption was the route that was right for them.

"the whole adoption process prepares you for parenthood in a way, it's different cause you are sitting down with social worker and they are asking you question like what parenting styles do you think you are going to have, what values do you want to adopt from your childhood, like how your parents raised you " says Tyler.

The couple went through a service in Georgia, because of the network the organization was able to provide.

The couple is ready to adopt again, doing the same online fund raising campaign.

"If you have the desire to become a parent there is a way where you can figure that out" says Cary.

I just don't understand why this was a story. And a featured story as well, on TV...

When I watch any of the local news channels I find myself wondering how this shite is news for about half the stories they run.

Well I'd rather stories like that vs. "Armed Robbery on Florida Blvd." and "Double Homicide in 70805"

What's fricked up is that a willing couple wanting to adopt has to spend 40,000 to do so.

good people. Cary played football at Tulane IIRC. I think his brother is a preacher in GA.

It's a feel-good story that promotes adoption. What's the problem?

Really? I'd rather know about the crime in the city than a random couple adopting a baby.

No problem. Just curious if there was more to it for it to be featured as a main story.

What's even more fricked up is the birth mother has 3 days after the birth to change her mind. By that time you have already spent >$20K and you ain't getting that shite back. Ask me how I know.

I know it's a feel good story. I said I think it's a great story. I was jut confused on why it made the news on tv. And why this couple was picked.

Lighten up, Francis.

I didn't click on the original story so when you said Cary was a dude, I then assumed this was a gay couple

Cary is an awesome guy, and it seems like he is starting a wonderful family. Don't know why or if it was supposed to be a unique story, but I guess like some others have stated, it's a feel good story that promotes adoption.

Yes, went to school with Cary and he and his family are good people. This adoption was a big deal at the time.
