I thought there was one in destin too?

Destin had the big round Holiday Inn with the rotating restaurant at the top. It's been torn down an is now an empty lot.

As a small child, I got such a kick out of swimming under the plastic drapes between the inside and outside of the pool. I thought it was the coolest thing ever.

Pelican Beach resort in Destin still has this. Kids loved it this past week. Adults too.

I'd definitely still go in and out, back and forth if I was staying somewhere that had it.

I remember me and my sister thinking we couldn't hold our breath that long to go all the way down and back up on the other side...once we did it once, it was all we did for HOURS.

The Yellow Submarine and the arcade for when it rained, back when video games were new. I remember playing the two person fire truck and submarine games.

The beach was pretty low key and quiet, not over run back then.

The indoor pool, Yellow Submarine, the arcade, movie theater, bozo the clown.

So many memories......wiffle ball in the open area indoors trying to jack "home runs* to the second and third floor balconies.

The only thing I remember about the place, other than playing my grandfather in tennis and him getting a leg cramp, is the air brush t-shirt guy set up inside the dome next to the pool.

Forgot about that guy. I wanted to get a Smokey and Bandit t-shirt, but my parents wisely discouraged it.

I loved the Holidome in Monroe. I was a bellboy at it when I went to Northeast. (Yes Holiday Inns had bell boys) We even had to wear vest and bowties as the uniform.

I saw so much at that place. I hooked up with the happy hour bartender girl regularly. The monroe one had a arcade also.

Bobbisox was the trashy milf hotspot of Northeast Louisiana. I always had fun with those folks. Many were looking for one night stands. Many would get drunk and not want to go home to their husbands and book a room instead.

I drove the Holidome van. I took all kinds of folks to the airport or around town. My favorite was the late night trip to the airport we made to pickup the stewardess that did overnights in Monroe. Delta didnt let the pilots and stewardesses stay in the same hotel. The Holidome always got the stewardess. That was always a fun pickup.

The business men would always ask me about strip clubs. (Monroe only had that one real trashy place with the one legged stripper) I would get a kick out of there expression when they returned from that place.

All in all as a college kid working at the Holidome, even the Monroe one was fun as hell. And we got to eat free every shift.

I meet people from all walks of life and most where down to have a good time at the Holidome.
