If you value your time, that’s a pretty big benefit.

That’s benefit enough for me.

Anyone Refuse to Use Self Checkout

i do

no matter what im buying there seems to always be "something" that requires me to wait for the fat lazy girl to slowly waddle over and spend 3 minutes telling the computer to ring up my stuff. its never a time saver

and yes i agree with the premis that if i check myself out, then i deserve the hours wage the store saves to not run a register as a discount off my purchase

The Sam's Scan N Go app is great. I wish Kroger and Publix had one.

I use whatever has the shortest line. If it’s a cashier or self checkout doesn’t matter, I just fricking hate lines.

I love me some self checkout, anything to get me out of a store with the quickness is wonderful.

Look if I am checking out and bagging my own purchases then they better start handing out some W2s with those receipts.

I walked into a Walgreens at about 8pm the other night and there weren't any employees in there. The only option was self checkout.

How exactly is self-checkout faster when you have a large buggy full of items? There's not belt to put them on, there's little room to bag as you go, and then you have to find room in the still full buggy when you're done bagging a bag.

Yeah I see a lot of folks talking about how self-checkout is way faster, and I don’t really think that’a always the case.

It’s faster IF 1) you don’t have a shitload of groceries to bag, 2) the people in front of you don’t have a shitload of groceries to bag, and 3) you don’t get stuck behind somebody born during the Truman administration who is trying to figure out how to how to pay with a check.

I don’t have a problem with self-checkouts in principle, but if stores are going to commit to them they need to commit. At places where I used to see 5-6 staffed checkout lanes, I now see like 7-8 self-checkouts and nobody staffing the rest of the lanes. Which is problematic when it takes people twice as long to scan and bag their own groceries.

Also the checkout line situation is kind of a fricked up free for all at a lot of places (but not everywhere).

I hate those things. I'm doing their job for no benefit, and as a bonus I get higher taxes because there are more unemployed people.

I dont mind them. I would like some sort of discount but it is usually much faster unless you get that one dickwad who tries to act like there are separate lines for them instead of one.

The local Kroger even has signs up to form one line and people still do this.

At my local Kroger if I don't see a particular older lady cashier and a mentally handicapped kid bagging for her I go to the self-checkout. They are the only ones that know how to bag groceries correctly. All the rest will put meats and cleaning products in the same bag. People just don't give a damn enough to learn how to do things the right way.

Why would you? Using check checkout speeds things up and you don't have to deal with people.
