I had one that would walk with me to the bus stop every morning then fly home. Then in the afternoon when the bus was stopping my duck would be landing as soon as I was stepping off the bus. He and my cat loved each others company.

Had four growing up in the pond behind my house. Bloodhound spent weeks chasing each one down one by one and killing them and dropping them on our back porch.

I have been wanting ducks for a while. Then a few weeks ago my sisters chickens surprised her with 15 chicks so she was looking to offload them on somebody. So now we have chickens. I purposely built the coop low to the ground in case the chickens are gone one day and we decide to try ducks. They just seem a lot more fun to have.

Can you post a pic of where they stay at night? I'd like to raise a few in our pond but not sure how to make them stay or keep away from the foxes.

Some ducklings fell into my pool when I was a kid. We took care of them... but they died after two weeks. Tried our best, but failed.

He stays inside in a brood with food, water and pine shavings at night. He spends about half the day outside and under my feet when he’s inside.
The first 3 weeks we had a 100W heat lamp in the brood to keep him warm.

MOAR DUCKS.
Neighbor had a female mallard killed in her yard last weekend, probably by an aggressive drake, and there were two nests of 20 or so eggs left unattended.
11 looked viable so I tossed them into an incubator on Monday. All 11 have embryo growth in them after 6 days. I’m going to train a flock of killer ducks to do my bidding.
I need to create a duck suit so I can start the new Marvel Super Hero character: DUCKMAN
Of last years ducks, three are on or around the pond most of the day and show up every morning and night for treats. They are non-flying ducks so they won’t be going anywhere.

I live in a neighborhood with a few ponds and we have a ton of ducks that live around here. We put out food everyday and the same 6-8 ducks show up and quack for their breakfast every morning. They pretty much live in our front yard now and allow the kids to get pretty close.
There were a few neighborhood ducks that would walk into your house and allow you to pet them. Coyotes got to those a couple of months ago.

I have a Swedish black. She is a great “pet.”
I feed her, but she lives on the pond out back as pretty much a semi- wild duck.

Tried it when I was a teen. The ducklings fell in our pool and the mother abandoned them. Survived about a week, but didn’t survive sadly.
