BTW serious runners HATE the non-BQ spots, people spend their life trying to earn a bib.

I’m...sorry?

Should I feel bad for raising $5k for a non-profit?

If you want to attempt to quote Eastbound and Down to make yourself seem cool, maybe learn how to spell “exercising”

No, you should just feel bad for buying what other people earn

Well now that you say it, I feel horrible. I feel no sense of accomplishment at all. How will I sleep tonight.

I'm sure you'll sleep fine because you're a pretensious piece of shite that thinks buying a spot and walking a marathon is something to be proud of

First, please learn how to spell “pretentious” correctly.

Second, I am proud that I raised money for cancer research and ran, not walked, 26.2 miles. It was a bucket list item for me and I wouldn’t take it back for anything.

And earning a spot doesn't make a person any better than the one that ran for charity. Not everyone has the ability to "earn" it. Not everyone has the physique to be able to do it. That elitist attitude is why a lot of people hate the people that take it so seriously and look down on those that can't.

Dont be such a prick

Sure it does, one person earned it, one didn't. It's pretty simple.

Ana some people have more work ethic than others.

Didnt stop the other person from running it, did it?

Work ethic isn't all that's involved. I know people in damned near perfect shape and run every day but would never qualify for that marathon because they dont have the build for it.

I'm not the one crying because someone got to run a marathon for a charity.

Fantastic, great job, friends, and family.

And I'm not a fake rich northeasterner that thinks he's cool for buying his way into a marathon.

I'm not either, he's just a fake elitist who deserves to be knocked down a peg or five

Nah. You're the baby crying that it's not fair when someone else is running a marathon for a good cause.

I have said this before and I’ll say it again. I don’t claim to be rich at all.

I also spent 26 years in Louisiana versus 6 in Boston. If moving makes me a “northeasterner” in your mind, so be it. I consider myself a Louisiana transplant.

Finally, I don’t think I’m “cool” for having run a marathon for charity. I’m proud of myself for raising money for cancer research and accomplishing a personal goal of completing a marathon. That’s it.

For being proud of completing a marathon? I dont give a damn what kind of shape you're in. If you can finish a marathon you deserve to be proud of it. It's an accomplishment.
