Anyone noticed an increase in suicide in their community?

Yes, and it keeps increasing.

I haven’t noticed or heard anything about someone I know recently. Granted, I am usually out the loop on most things

I didnt know this chick per say because I have been gone and moved back. Her husband though was my neighbor as a kid and his mom just bought our old house (different location).

Father is law enforcement and he said they had two calls last week, the week before a pretty known guy - young pilot - killed himself, and a few months ago a girl I saw in high school, her dad killed himself. He worked at the school and his son is a cop. He was on duty when it came through and luckily my dad called and told them for him not to report. Also, I had a friend that I served with, a young guy, OD a few months ago. Its nuts!

Just seems like too much, plus the others and attempts that I have heard. This is a small place that everyone knows everyone regardless if you know them, and its not the norm for the type of people in this community. I know you really cant say who does it or not, but again, just something that is unusual.

True. I did have a friend that was a neighbor drink antifreeze. He was a young guy on his own and no one saw that.

Yeah this area is not much bigger than 3,000.

It’s at the highest it’s ever been. White guys make up 77% of suicides, a disproportionate amount.

Live in a really nice area outside of Dallas. Currently in high school. I’m a senior now, 2 years ago a student who was a year above me committed suicide. One month after this happened a kid in my grade committed suicide. Completely unexpected. I didn’t really hangout with him, but he was in 2 of my classes and I considered him a school friend. I remember it happened on a Sunday night and everyone got word. I’ll never forget walking into my second period world history class that next Monday. I walked in, class dead silent. 5 teachers and all the counselors in there. I sat down and began crying. My teacher tried to talk but started sobbing and the entire class was this way for an hour and a half. Probably the saddest moment of my life to this day. About a month ago during this year a freshman at our school committed suicide. It’s some really sad stuff, and I’ll never be able to understand how someone can get to that point.

A huge part of depression is worrying abou being a burden to others. That's why so many folks never say anything about it and just bottle it up. They just act like everything is ok because the thought of folks worrying about them is pretty depressing. It is exhausting. Some folks just lose the fight.

I doubt that many folks who kill themselves really want to die. They just cant see a different path away from what is going on in their head. They just want that to stop.
