The problem isnt a matter of seeing counselors, it's a matter of meaning in life.
I strongly disagree with you. Therapy has had a profound impact on countless people. With kids, sometimes they just need to bitch and moan about social pressures and their parents to someone who isn't going to scold them. Someone who teaches them how to deal with stressors.
It's a complete cop out to blame society. Society has changed since the beginning of mankind...each generation deals with different challenges than the previous generation.

What kind of effect? They tell the therapist all of their problems and what is the therapist telling them? Do you know?

Is this something kids are killing themselves over? Because I thought this was about depression leading to suicide. This doesn't sound like reasons someone would commit suicide.

A cop out to see societal trends? What?

Society has changed since the beginning of mankind.
Yes and we have more stuff than we've ever had. No society has ever had the material luxuries of the society we live in.
Also, no society has ever had the lack of community that we currently see. Used to be people connected through religious communities but those are dying.
Marriage is dying, child birth is dying. Why? People are less connected by deeper truths.
You think too shallow or you simply choose to never think about deeper questions to life.

fricking life is stressful. And getting moreso.
Life has a way of squeezing everything from people. Jobs - it’s basically slavery. Kids - gotta have the best because we love them. Women, they feel it too and also put pressure on themselves and their souses.
On top of all that is life - ticking away, to what? It’s like a time bomb. frick.
P.S. I am not suicidal but damn, after reading this thread, shite!

There have been a couple of physicians in my area that killed themselves (one directly and one through booze) and well as others there from various professions.
It's always amazing that this many people see no other way out.

So basically, psychology is crap and God is what's missing?

Yes, that's obviously my problem but definitely not yours.

I used to think this as well until I opened my eyes a little. Suicide goes against your innate human nature to survive and live against all costs. Suicide victims are obviously mentally ill, they are not thinking the way that you and I do. Most feel a burden and think they are doing the right thing for their friends and family by relieving them of that burden.

In the end, how many ways ‘out’ are there, really?

I think it’s increased but internet and 24 hour news cycle has made it feel larger than true increase. Opiates/heroin have been a detriment to society and I look forward to it’s abuse being eradicated.
