Not their brand of it. Been to Maine more than I've cared to visit, it busts some sterotypes of people in the north east. Probably some of the most ignorant, bigoted people you'll ever meet outside of Europe.

I’ve heard from my friend Stephen that it’s a great place to get murdered.

Don't worry, you're not the only one. After the first 3 or 4 posters asked if I was or assumed I was black it sort of became an inside joke with me and a few other posters on tRant. They actually spread it around a bit on that board that I was black. I never did myself, but I also never corrected anybody for a while

I watch Northwoods Law on Animal Planet

Me too. Love that show. Just have to be careful because they have a North Woods Law Maine and a North Woods Law New Hampshire. The Maine game wardens and show is the better of the two.

One of my friends grew up in Maine, but lived and worked in the South for about 15 years after the Navy. He decide to go back due to it being home, and a large financial incentive. He made it through one winter, having to crawl out the second floor windows of his house to shovel the snow drifts burying the front and rear doors, then moved back to the South. He says he forgot just how cold it was and how much trouble the snow was, and will not go back for any amount of money.

Visited Portland this past October. It is an amazing town with extremely friendly people.
