This is a recent estate sale pick up. It is numbered 041, and is from “The Ole War Skule”.
Are they still like this (or the last 30 years)?

The guy went to LSU in 41 & 42, and eventually graduated from West Point, later becoming a Brigadier General, so I’m guessing this was a coin given to him, not one for him to give out, because he didn’t have his commission yet.

I’m trying to date the coin.

041 means it is the 41st coin (theoretically) of that particular Army ROTC unit that was given.

It is very nice.

I've never heard of a WWII era challenge coin. I don't think they go that far back.

If you don’t have one to throw down at the bar, the drinks are on you.

Do not leave home without it.

You’re welcome.

Don't blame you, it's a good looking coin.

I've seen coins with numbers and coins without numbers.

I received one of these coins around 2003 when I received a commission from LSU Army ROTC. I still have it, but would have to get it out of storage to tell you the number.

My guess is that he received this coin around the same time as a member of the Cadets of the Ole War Skule.
