Anyone know how to find previous owners of a property?

Have you tried looking in the quad?

Title search

Do a search for the GIS system for your county/parish (eg. google "Orleans Parish GIS"). Most GIS systems will have an option for showing property history, tax info, etc...

Go to your local clerk of court. You have access to everything you need there.

Most places you should be able to do it at a computer terminal, smaller/more rural offices you may have to look in the paper conveyance records. Look up deed of acquisition of the current owner and it will tell you who they bought it from. You can go back as far as necessary, back to the original homestead or land grant, but you rarely need to go back more than 15 years or so.

At our Clerk's office one of the employees will do it for you if you ask. Don't know if it's that way everywhere.

i sometimes wish i could use the previous home owner of 11 years as a punching bag. a grown arse man who never labeled his breaker box, sprayed for insects or weeds, pressure washed the outside of his house, repaired anything on the home or had his home warranty company repair anything. who also let his 3 kids and wife live in a home without a single GFCI outlet. A man who painted 4 out of 13 areas of his house dark hunter green with gold trim, then gave up on the "painting project", leaving it for me. aka, to start completely fricking over because i don't have shite taste.

If you aren't trying to go back too far into the past, ask a realtor to look the property up in the MLS and see if they can find an old listing from when the previous owners were selling.
