Mountains > beach

How can you be creeped out by a land formation? I know Louisiana is the flattest state, but still.

The only thing that could creep you out is riding shotgun in a car with someone flying down a curvy mountain road that has incredibly steep dropoffs and little to no guardrailing.

Could you imagine a world where everyone talked about every time they drank? Why do people who smoke do this? Out of the blue "Mountains are great...I got high, bro".

Flat, featureless land creeps me out more than mountains.

There’s nothing like standing 14,259 feet on top of a mountain

Mountains are beautiful and help me appreciate distance, perception, and changes in topography. If you don’t like them, you’ll be happy to stay in the beautifully ugly, flat, polluted town of Sulphur, LA.

I'm just the opposite. Even as a boy, I was drawn to the majesty of mountains. Being a Louisiana kid, it seemed odd to have such a fascination with not only mountains, but with all things winter related. Since becoming an adult, I've vacationed extensively in places that featured mountains and now, we exclusively plan vacations that feature mountains.
I remember on one of my first ski trips to Utah, me and a friend were siting in the condo eating breakfast, and the back glass opened up to a wide view of the mountains. There was a huge peak, and in my mind, I wanted very much to scale the mountain and place a flag there.
I was very naive at the time about what it took to scale a peak of such size, but my desire was there none the less.
My dream is to retire to a state out west with mountains.

Nah, I feel at home in the mountains. I couldn't live anywhere without them. No roads, just unfettered wilderness.

I'm afraid of heights in buildings, but not on a mountain.

I'm the same way. I assume it's the comfort that the mountain won't fall and is stable as opposed to buildings or other high places that are movable?

The dopers are similar to the homos and vegans when it comes to this.

I'm not sure. I've never been comfortable in tall buildings or bridges but love hiking in the mountains. Elevators really freak me out too.
