Anyone into tornado chasing?

For years I've had an odd obsession with tornadoes tracing back to when my house got torn to shreds as a kid. Anyone been lucky to encounter one? I've also seen a pretty gnarley (possibly tornadic) super cell near Amarillo, but didn't investigate because I was moving to Las Vegas in a soft top convertible.
If I could, I would quit my day job in a second to chase in the plains one spring.

have not done it myself, but a couple of years ago there was a particularly nasty storm coming through my area and storm chasers just swarmed the place....kind of odd to see all of those dudes cruising around my neighborhood.

Yeah, I'd like to chase tornadoes. Unfortunately for that dream, I also like being married and alive. So it'll remain a dream.

If you are interested like I was, look look into becoming SKYWARN Storm Spotter. You dont chase per say but you get trained with a lot of useful weather knowledge on signs and developments. I also became very involved in EMA and first responder activities. Very fullfilling volunteer work.
I had several chances to follow and "spot" storms and help report its movements to media. "Chasing" has its fair share of social media darlings looking for followers more than helping. But Im gullible. Periscope is a must have app.

IN! I couldn't imagine the adrenaline rush. shite, just standing next to the Niagara Falls (US side(frick Canada)) gave me a rush and not just to my pants either. Being able to be close enough to a tornado to where it won't kill would be absolutely mind altering.

I followed a few in Indiana just for shits. Being able to see that force of nature, in a relatively safe way, is pretty wild

Not something I would do, but I get the fascination. Tornadoes are amazing natural phenomena. Tornado chasers save lives as well.

I’ve always been fascinated by them. It is certainly on my bucket list. When the big tornado outbreaks happen, I enjoy watching the live coverage on them. Periscope is always cool to watch.

Yea I look forward to every spring just so I can chase storms.
I was in school in Starkville during the April 2011 outbreak. Most unreal thing I've ever lived through. Had some great footage on my old phone...though it was stupid trying to chase around there. Too many hills and trees and phone service was in and out at times so updated radar wasn't guaranteed.

Just drive around on a stormy day in Louisiana during the spring and summer. Geez. I feel sorry for ya'll. Not being a dick either. I'm glued to the OT on those days. Hopefully it won't be as bad this year.
