I did when I was a poor law school student many years ago. Didn't turn out too badly all things considered. I certainly would not do it now.

For about 5 years I have. Got tired of paying someone $20 for 15min of work.

Gotten pretty good at cutting but I don't do anything complicated obviously. Only use a buzzer and no scissors.

I divide my head into 3 levels. Bottom gets 1/2" to 5/8" depending on my mood. Mid level gets 5/8 to 3/4. top gets anywhere from 7/8" to 1 3/8".

The most difficult part is edging/shaving the neck. This is done with just the bare buzzer. I tried using multiple mirrors but that made me feel like I was on mushrooms. Now I hold close to the head of the buzzer and feel my way around. Edging ears can be tricky too but at least you can see them.

I started clipper cutting mine in college in the late 90s and haven't stopped since. #6 (3/4") on top #3 (3/8") on the sides. Blend with a 1/2" between the two. I use a Remington clipper that has a small vacuum attached to it. Makes cleanup easier.

I use to cut mine with a 2 gaurd all the way around. Then my buddy moved back from college and he started hooking me up with some nice fades.

do you mean wave length? Ive never heard of finger length but wave length is widely used around most barber shops around here. If you're cutting yourself, good clippers are a key start. Got a great pack of oysters 2 for 100 at sallys. Now when it comes to learning, really just alot of trial and error. Would mess it up to the point I would say screw it and wear a durag. But through experience, practice and watching others cut its not that hard.

I used to cut mine. #3 on top and #2 on bottom. I'd fade the #2 as I got close to the top. Getting the neck and ears was always difficult. Got tired of the mess everywhere so I pay $20 every two months for someone to do the same thing and wash it after.

Yes getting behind the ears and back of the neck are always the hardest parts for me. But the more mirrors you have at hand, the better. Always good to invest in a pair of good clippers but as of late I've been sticking with a personal barber. Haircut every week or so to keep it fresh.

Yeap, watched YouTube then practiced. Start off longer like others have said. Plus, it will grow back.

For the neck you can use the bill of a hat, I just use my hand though.
