My problem is I have about 100k cards or so.
Total value is probably like 1-2k. LOVELY.

Have that card and many others. Comic books, too.

Should've saved my 80s skateboard and bmx bike.

I've got two, maybe more. Single card in a plastic case, an unopened complete set, and an unopened wax box (I'm glad I got to use wax box in a sentence, it's been a long time).

I rummaged through my baseball card collection last year, and discovered that I have like 3 Manny Ramirez rookie cards. I got a little excited, figuring that even with the drop in value, Manny fricking Ramirez rookies would still be worth a little something. Then I looked up the value...sad horn...

This was my favorite hobby growing up. I spent so much time at the card shop that the owner had me watch over the shop when he went out of town to card shows some weekends. Absolutely enjoyed the hobby.

I was thinking about taking my son to Chucks one weekend to start a collection with him.

Pretty sure I have the complete, unopened Upper Deck sets from 89, 90, and 91. I stopped collecting right around 1991. I haven't looked at any of those cards in nearly 20 years. This is the only card that I have of any real value:

That is not my card, just a stock pic. Mine is not a mint condition card.

This was my favorite growing up:

Granted I did grow up in Minnesota watching him play.

The prices for some of those new packs are absurd. You should skip the new crap and collect vintage w/ him. My collection is mostly pre-WWII baseball. I'm also putting together a 1953 and 1955 Topps set.

For the price you'd pay for some of these auto/relic packs you could buy some lower grade tobacco or candy cards from the early 1900's... and they actually maintain their value.

I collected for a few years, between the card makers and Beckett (who set the values), it was one big damn sham.
If a card maker said "limited production", was there anyone overseeing that? it sure seemed after the value went up, all of sudden those cards flooded the market.
