I obviously don't mean hitting the jackpot or whatever, but any money of significance?

I was at a convenience store this evening and had 3 people in front of me buy scratch-off lottery tickets. Frankly none of them seemed to be in a position to throw money away. 2 of the 3 scratched off the tickets, threw them in the trash can by the door, and left. The trash was full of similar tickets.

We all have things we throw money away on, Lord knows I do. So even though I don't mean to judge, I realize I'm slightly judging. It just seemed sad.

Office pool matched 4 numbers once.

Nearly shite myself reading off the first four numbers and having them match.

Bought a ticket at the FloraBama for the hell of it. It was a $5 ticket and I had had more than enough to drink. Won $100 bucks. Thought it was a joke, but it was legit. Thought I had hit the Lottery

I hit 4 numbers and the Powerball in 2001 during my college days.

My other number was a 16 and the winning one was the 18. The difference between 10k and 58M that drawing saved my life.

My Dad called it " the stupid tax". Proving my Dad's point, I buy Powerball/Megamillions tickets in direct proportion to how desperate my life begins to feel. Only partially kidding. Ok, not kidding.
