The honesty in this thread shows exactly how big of a rip-off the lottery is

I won a few times on the Saints $5 scratch offs. Nothing over $100 bucks though. When one of the country wide lotteries hit a billion dollars I spent $50 on tickets and I won a grand total of $6.

I was not mature enough to handle millions of dollars at that time in my life. Sure, it would've been damn fun but I'm certain I wouldn't have survived from then to now.

Bought one Lotto ticket weekly for the first year or so after it hit Louisiana. Matched enough numbers to win $50 twice. Rarely buy any of them anymore.

won 3 grand this weekend on a slot, waiting for the black jack table to open up. Felt good. But I've never won more than $10 in the lottery

Had 4 numbers on fantasy5.

My sisters play together and win 300 to 500 on the reg.
Just lucky.

Ive won turkey thanksgiving work pool more than once.

Won $500 bingo once.

Nothing stupendous.

A friends son won super lotto when it was $8 million.

I got 2 5 dollar scratch offs I won 20 bucks each on right now.

I’ve won 100 dollars on a scratch off before.

I’ve won 100 on powerball before.

Honestly i have decent luck with them but I don’t play them much. Maybe 40 bucks a month or so

I hit 4 numbers and the Powerball in 2001 during my college days.

My other number was a 16 and the winning one was the 18. The difference between 10k and 58M that drawing saved my life.

I thought 4 numbers and the PB was 50k back then before they changed it up a few years ago

It's fun for me, and it's sorta like buying excitement for a very short amount of time. I don't expect to win anything, but that's likely why it's an every now and then thing

Same. If I’m gonna spend a couple dollars I’m gonna get the fun out of slowly scratching each number off

Not a lotto ticket, but my grandfather told a story about a business meeting he had in Vegas and one of the guys he knew there was 100% against gambling because he was very religious. For 3 days they couldn’t get him to try it. As they were leaving for the airport the last day the guy finally gave in and stuck 5 bucks in a slot machine before they walked out the door. Hit a 5 million jackpot. Never gambled again either

If in 2000 you had started putting that $10 a week in an S&P 500 index fund, which has an avg. return of 7.2% over a 20 year period, it would be worth about $23,230 at the end of 2020.

Now that's a nice win!
