I haven't but I am close friends and/or kin with a few who have, and know a few professionally who have in self defense.
My friends and others all understood that it was self defense and it never effected them. They understood it was them or the bad guys and never got hung up on it.
My cousin's shooting was a home invasion in which she had the option of running from the house but leaving her sleeping 6 month old in the back bedroom or taking the bad guy on with a .22 rifle. She protected her child and lit the guy up (he locked himself in the bathroom and bled out) The killing didn't effect her but afterwards she was scared someone else would break in and developed a little phobia about it.

Grandfather was a master gunnery sargeant in WWII, was in active combat for 3 years and had to kill people. Father shot himself.

Forgot to mention my aunt shot and killed intruder in the 80's. She saw him breaking in through a window. Hunkered down in the bedroom with a shotgun and when he came in, she shot him. My mother told me and my aunt has never spoken about it.
