We had a buy up program where someone could buy an extra week of PTO. That’s the closest I’ve seen to what the OP desires.

I have not, but I can promise you that if I left my current employer (where I am up to four weeks of vacation per year after 18 years), that would be part of the salary negotiation for my new position. No way I would start over on the PTO/vacation table.

I’ve done both but it was with another job offer in hand

Guess it would depend on your company's HR policies, parity of your position vs. peers, tenure etc.
In our company, that'd be a no. BUT..as you move up the various pay grades, there can me more PTO as part of that grade level. And, with more tenure, you would eventually get more PTO up to a point, then it stops for all.
Can you get them to reclassify your position to a different grade level if that applies?

I didn't know so many companies still offered PTO.
My company gives us unlimited vacation. They're very generous.

Rule #1 - if you don’t ask….the answer is always no.
Ask away. You will find out right away how valuable the company thinks you are.
My successful salesmen are allowed things the others are not. I believe in treating people fairly, not equally.

Yep. When transitioning to a new company, was comfortable with the salary but wanted twice amount of PTO than initially offered. Was a non-negotiable contingent of my acceptance of their job offer.

I argued for both once and got both. I used to have a ridiculously awesome CEO. The PTO part wasn't even a discussion. Just a "yes, what else?"

It's an interesting question I guess. Would you be setting a new HR question if you asked, and granted PTO? A new paradigm across the board?
I negotiated an additional week of PTO based on my time with our company. Company approved my request and change the policy for the entire company.

I find that's just a way to keep the liability off their books. It's not really "unlimited".
I have 29 days of PTO and would much rather have that.

I already have 4 weeks of vacation. Can use comp days for working a weekend day whenever I want.
I was recently asked to relocate for a lateral move. 5% raise plus the highest relocation package our company offers. I turned down the the big relocation package and took the basic package. Had the difference negotiated into my salary. So I turned down 5% raise plus a large payout into 14% raise

Most place set PTO on years with the company.... more years, more weekly PTO earned.

This is our policy but exceptions are made. If I’m trying to hire someone away from a company that they’ve been with 15 years, I’m going to match their pto and not make them start over

What is everyone’s company policy on buying back PTO?
I work for a small company (roughly 20 employees) with no limit on what PTO can be rolled over from year to year. I work 10 hour days, 4 days a week. As a result I can go on vacation for a week to nine days and only have to take 3 days vacation. Over the years my PTO has accumulated and I’m at around 1,100 hours now.

We can accumulate a certain amount based on years of service. I can rollover roughly 45 days at 13 years.

We're also expected to be "on call" pretty much all the time, whether or not we're on vacation.

I'm kind of similar.
I actually struggle most years to use all of my PTO because I get way more than my wife and still have 1 kid in school. It's a good problem to have I guess. I just take random Monday's off starting in about July.
