We did myrtle beach at the legends resort and it was insanely cheap. Like 4 nights in a townhouse, 4 rounds of golf, breakfast & lunch 4 days, and 1 dinner for like $320 per person.

It was a great trip. We played Caledonia (extra $100), the Dunes (extra $100), Heritage Club, Oyster Bay, The Moorlands, and the Heathlands. Plus they have a huge strip club nearby called The Masters that was pretty awesome from what I remember.

If you are going to do RTJ,

Courses I've Played
1. Capitol Hill - Love the judge, like the Legislator (the judge plays out and back so you don't want to play there when it's mid 90's or up.)
2. Grand National - It can be brutally hot on the Lakes so time of year is important stays humid not much wind.
3. Cambrian Ridge - I've played here a couple times and always enjoyed it, not a lot of traffic on this course I always enjoy not getting stuck behind slow foursomes.
4. Oxmoor Valley - Love the Ridge hate the Valley course.

Dont' Like

Highland Oaks - It's a nice course but it's the worst of the RTJ's I've played. Nothing memorable from either course I played there.

Hampton Cove - Might have been that we played it in late November but we took a group of 12 and nobody wanted to go back.

Course I haven't gotten to yet:

Ross Bridge, The Shoals, Lakewood, Magnolia, Silver Lakes

If you were going to do 3 days on RTJ I'd probably do

Stay in Fairhope play Lakewood, next day drive up to Greenville play Cambrian Ridge, drive to Prattville stay at the on sight Marriot. Day 3 play Capitol Hill, Drive to Birmingham Day 4 play Oxmoor - Ridge, and Ross Bridge.

If you are only staying 3 days I'd probably drop Cambrian Ridge.

When my son turned 18, I took him and his buddy on a Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail. Hit Grand National, Oxmoor, Ross Bridge and a few others. Great trip.

We play Kiva, Peninsula, Gulf Shores CC and sometime we shoot over to Lost Key for the day.

Staying at Kiva is the most economical thing to do...and you get some golf discounts. There are a couple of houses you ca rent that come with a golf cart - that is extra handy at Kiva.

I love courses like Kiva and Lost Key - some don't - Penninsula is easy enough for all to have a good time.

Good thing is if your ladies like the beach, they can do that. We always hit up Tin Top for dinner one night as well.

we usually have a group of 8. Cost is usually under $500 for 3 nights and 4 rounds of golf. Last year we stayed at the condos on the 18th hole at Kiva Dunes and it was really nice. Its a good place to stay if you are playing Kiva and Peninsula.

We were there last October. A week before we went they informed us the course was still closed. They got us tee times at Peninsula and Kraft Farms. I do love KD and prefer to play a combination of courses but staying at KD and just playing there is easy especially after a night of drinking.

Have heard good things about this course but never played it.

I want to do Bandon Dunes badly. But, from what I've heard, it's only a golf trip. I don't think there is really a lot to do outside of play golf. Can someone shed some light on that?

My favorite by far. I've only been down there once, but played all the top courses. IDK why but we had the best time there.

Heading to Phoenix next week for 4 days of golf. Playing Sedona Golf Resort, Ocotillo, and 2 others. Just couldn't stomach the $175 and up green fees for the big name courses.

RTJ is on tap for April. 4 days, 126 holes planned. Both courses at Oxmoor Valley and Grand National, then all 3 courses at Capitol Hill.

I went last year for a work trip, played Bandon Trails and Pacific Dunes in the 2 days I was there. Everything is on the property that you would need. They have a putt-putt course ( The Punchbowl) that is unlike anything i've ever seen before. Plus, they have a waitress out there so you can drink and play. We ended up playing 36 putt-putt holes and played skins match. Ended up winning like $200. They also have a couple of restaurants on the property along with a bar, so there's really no reason to go off the property. There is a shuttle that will take you around too.

I've seen some crazy greens on regular Tom Doak courses, I can't imagine some of the shite he would throw at you on a putt putt course.
