Doesn't it just seem inevitable that the J&J won't be considered "fully vaxxed" by any enforcing entities? The powers that be have had it out for J&J since early on.

Israel is poised to add the booster to their Greenpass, otherwise you are cancelled. Gonna be interesting watching the J&J folks react when they need to go get Pfizered up.

quote:

People who do not receive a coronavirus booster shot will eventually be denied a so-called green passport, which allows entry into various venues, Health Minister Nitzan Horowitz said on Tuesday. “This is simply because, in terms of its effectiveness, the vaccine is valid only for a period of five or six months,” Horowitz told Channel 13 television. “After about half a year, you have to get a third dose. Otherwise, the vaccine loses its power.”

Go back to the PT with the VDS talking points please

Pretty fascist of you not to allow opposing opinions.

And FWIW I have always supported people getting it if they feel good about it, but it's not the answer.

Sounds like you and your wife are the J&J super spreaders that your friends should avoid.

Why not? They just released that a booster of the J&J may offer a huge amount of protection.

The J&J may not offer as much protection as the others…but it still is a good option. Especially for those that don’t want two doses. Its a great option imo for healthcare providers to give to patients they feel may not come back for a second dose.

I got it. It hurt for 3 minutes, and I was fine.

Cell reception dramatically diminished.

Tell you what I do have. Natural antibodies. Won't be needing booster drugs every few months.

Your natural antibodies are programmed to neutralize the spike protein of the covid strain that you were infected with. They are the same as the antibodies generated by the vaccine*. So if a strain becomes resistant or less susceptible to the vaccine then your natural immunity will not work either.

No you will just need to get infected with the new strains every few months. Enjoy your lost of taste, shortness of breath, hospitalizations, and eventual slow and miserable death.

*See another one of my posts further along in this thread that further explains this generalization of the issue.

The adenovirus delivers the little piece of DNA to the cell that will then make the spike protein.

That’s the way viruses work in nature. Doesn’t put me off as much as the mRNA route.

But I still might wait on the Novavax.

So you get blood tests frequently to check this? You realize while you can have natural antibodies….it can vary from person to person. Some people who had a minor case of COVID never develop enough of a response to actually offer any protection.

Ah some reasonable discussion. To answer the question, I had covid in early July and had an antibody test last week.

Sorta unrelated question for you, nurse. I give blood once every 4 weeks at lifeshare. Haven't been since 2 weeks before I got sick. Can they test for antibodies when I'm there?

You mean the general public is not likely to listen to advice and follow the recommendations of people who actually know wtf they are talking about? I do not believe you. I cannot imagine that some mildly obese middle aged smoker that works in a chemical plant in South Louisiana that passed high school with a D in biology twenty years ago would think that he knows more than a doctor.

You realize PhD Doctorates are the least likely to get the shots right? I've noticed 2 posts from you on this page and both spew utter nonsense.

I don’t know…ask them.

And I think many promoting the vaccine are not saying that natural immunity isn’t real….it’s just that it can vary so much from person to person. Whereas the vaccine…is a measurable dose that we know more about how much protection it gives and for how long. Many in the medical community have guessed from the get go that boosters might be a possibility.

Also…I’ve yet to get COVID because I’ve been very cautious this entire time (proper precautions actually works and I am testament to that). I’d rather get vaccine and be better protected (yes I know it’s not 100% protection) and not worry about having long term effects from COVID. I personally haven’t worried that I would die if I got it. I was more worried about long term issues. Things I’ve seen in others I know at work (some had to quit their jobs at my hospital due to long term health issues after having COViD).

Yep, and nope.

And the booster appears to be very effective, which is cool when this thing becomes an annual shot like for the flu.

Do you have to have a record of your annual flu shot to eat at restaurants or attend public events?

Incorrect.

Prior infection antibodies target both the spike protein and the nucleocapsid. Vaccine antibodies only target the spike protein.
