5G is a speed, not a frequency. It’s like thinking “75 mph” and “I-10” are the same thing.

5G is just the marketing name for a whole new suite of protocols & technologies that work over a different subset of radio frequencies. It's not a speed.

People worrying about 5G give me a chuckle.

Little do they know about LAA and CBRS

I honestly don't know much of anything about them either. I'm not much of an RF guy, solely ethernet and 802.11, and even my 802.11 knowledge is limited.. I just have had some classes and basic training in wireless. Some minor coax experience with some of our sister companies.

I think the biggest difference is my limited training and knowledge enables me to know that I don't know shite

I’m currently doing these relocation builds for ATT. They’re putting them up right across the street from existing towers because of the way they’re being charged. A lot of these relos are getting prepped for 5G technology, but a majority of it is being put on small cell types. Light posts, utility poles, and such. I’ve only done a couple, but my company has been doing the small cells for almost 2 years now and I know of a few other companies in which that’s all they’re building

LAA = Licensed Cells that for the most part are strictly there to help CA (Carrier Agg). (At least from most Carriers perspectives)

CBRS: Government Network in the higher frequency that allows Carriers more access to spectrum when needed.

Both of these allow for peak data rates as high as 1.8Gbps currently.

There is a 7CC case I am currently working on (on top of 5G roll out) for Low Power sites and Small Cell CAgg.

Had someone on our Nextdoor app convinced that coronavirus was just a smoke screen and all the COVID-19 sickness was 5g related.

She was called an idiot pretty quickly and told to go away

Well, yeah... technically. But the result of all that is increased throughput/decreased latency, generally. But for lay person conversations, I'm comfortable classifying it as "a speed." That is certainly more accurate than calling it a frequency.

We'll see.

I'm patiently awaiting a ruling on the matter from TPA.

5G uses non-ionizing radiation. It doesn't cause cancer. It's radiowaves at a higher frequency than 4g, and the energy from its waves are absorbed in the skin.

Same radiation group as caffeine.

People always need a good conspiracy theory to cling to especially now that they are bored at home.
